Cozy

I have the greatest friends ever. For my birthday, my best friends stopped by and showered me with goodies. My favorite being the warm and cozy sweater blanket :) They know me oh so well. I gave the blanket a test run this evening and never want to part from it. The perfect thing for snuggling on a couch and watching Gilmore Girls with my guy. Beans is very fond of it, as well.
We have been snuggling all evening.
And, of course, beans had to pretend to rip it apart to show how tough she is. Love that gal.

Many things to be thankful for today...
206. Old family memories
207. Laughing at work
208. Sun rising early
209. Warm, comfy blankets
210. Unexpected "I Love You's"
211. Small holiday accents

So Thankful.

Thanksgiving used to be one of my least favorite holidays as a child. No gifts. Pumpkin everything. Family watching football all day. But as I grow older, this holiday is slowly climbing the charts to be one of my favorites. Maybe it's because this season of life is really teaching me to be thankful all the time (not just for a month). I have been keeping a "thankful" list since this summer and I thought I would share my thankfulness this month. I'll try to post frequently since I have so much to be thankful for!

191. Early morning radio music
192. The first snow
193. Big, white flakes
194. Carpet lines
**I came home from work the other day and Truman had vacuumed the entire place! This doesn't sound like that big of deal but if you know Truman, you'll know that he never cleans. I felt so loved :)
195. Clean home
196. Thick socks
197. Start of holiday season
198. Bright orange trees
199. Extra hour of sleep
200. Morning snuggles with the bean
201. Falling asleep on his chest
202. Afternoon peace
203. Kali's frequent visits
204. Glenn Miller on the record player
205. Grocery shopping with Truman
I love living so close to people we know. Especially Kal. She comes over all the time and I LOVE it. I want our house to be an open door to family and friends.

I was feeling crafty this weekend and decided to finally make some chalkboards for our home. It was really easy and a cheap way to decorate a home on a budget! We're having some friends over to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend so I felt it was necessary to do a little fall decorating, as well.

Truman got to choose the quote for the week. We watched a documentary on Bob Dylan once and Mr. Dylan told an angry guest to "be groovy or leave." Truman thought it was great.

22.

I had a wonderful birthday. (Mostly because I got to spend the whole day with my husband which automatically makes it a great day.) I'm finding that the older I get, the more I want to relax and lay in bed on my birthday. I suppose my early morning job would contribute to that, as well. It hit me when I woke up that I'm 22 years old. Only 22. I'm not even at my quarter life! Sometimes I feel so old and overwhelmed when I think of bills and jobs and groceries, but I'm still so young! Lord willing, I have so many years of joy and trials and experience ahead of me and yesterday morning that really excited me. I am so blessed to be at this stage in my life and I owe every joy to Christ.

We started the day out by getting breakfast at our favorite coffee shop in Lincoln, The Mill.

Yesterday was the perfect fall day. I could still feel a little warmth in the air :)
Truman, being the wonderful husband that he is, allowed me to do a little shopping/antiquing. He was such a trooper!
I could browse through used vinyl for hours. I'm always certain that there will be at least one record that belongs with me...thankfully I found two!

After dinner in the Haymarket, we decided to wander around downtown and ended up in another coffee shop, go figure.
We stopped by Rocket Fizz for some sweets.

And we ended the evening by grooving to Glenn Miller and his orchestra.
I will never grow tired of his smile.
Cheers to a year of adventure,
Jord

DIY Spa Night

A few of my good friends came over for a spa night this weekend. We found DIY recipes online and used ingredients from our kitchen! Every gal needs a good night of relaxation once a month...or once a week.

Maple Oatmeal Scones

It was a great fall day. The air was chilled (almost a little too much!) and the afternoon was quiet. Truman watched the game and I spent my time in the kitchen making these little things. They are delicious and we have enough to last weeks...which is why I will be sharing with my friends :) You can find the recipe here. Cheers to another lovely day in good ol' Nebraska.

The Little Things

It's a quiet night here at the Faeh home. The windows are cracked to let the tiniest bit of cool air in and little bean is snuggled into a blanket. Since I'm embracing the lovely details of fall, I decided it was time to make my first chai tea of the season. Drinking this chai takes me back to my coffee shop days. Though the chai is wonderful, the milk froth is what comforts me the most. Call me spoiled, but working at the coffee shop every day turned me into a froth addict. I don't even like milk anymore unless it has the foamy top....which is why I took it upon myself to buy a milk frother from William Sonoma :) In my opinion, it's a must-have for Nebraska weather.

I'm feeling very thankful tonight. Praising God for his answered prayers and perfect timing. For crisp air. For frothy milk. For snuggly coco. For a fresh, new season.

Hello Fall

Today was the ultimate fall day. I'll admit, I'm probably the only one in Nebraska who is still shedding tears that the hot and humid weather is gone, but I decided to embrace the cool breeze today.

I decided to whip out my full length skirt which will be my go-to piece for the cool weather.

Kali made a trip up to hang and do some laundry so I decided to make Bacon Cheddar Potato soup...so good! Recipe here.

While in the kitchen, I let the sweet sounds of James Taylor keep me company. His "October Road" album is my favorite in the fall.

I also tried a new scone recipe and it has easily become my favorite so far. Maple Nut Scones. Recipe here.

It was fun to spend time with my sister and welcome the new season (but if it gets lower than 70 I'm going to scream).
Who are we kidding? We never try to look pretty in pictures.

Here's to a new season. Be nice to us, Nebraska.
