Honeymooners Pt. 2

I didn't take many pictures in Portland because I didn't want to lug my camera around all day so most of these pictures are found on the internet. We wanted to stay in a boutique hotel since Portland is known for its "hip-ness" (real word?). Ace Hotel was somewhat affordable and had a Stumptown in the hotel lobby--we were sold. The hotel was very different. Artwork covered the walls and we could hear the The Rolling Stones blasting from the lobby. The place was filled with cool kids.

The first thing we did was go to Powell's Book Store a.k.a. heaven. The store took up the whole block. Needless to say, we spent quite a while inside. Across from the hotel was a theater called Living Room Theatre. We noticed they were playing independent films so we decided to check it out. I am so thankful we did! It was my favorite part of the trip. There was a lounge in the front where you could drink wine, eat dinner, snack on delicious truffles, or have a cup of coffee. When the movie started, you would take your things into the theater and finish them there. It was wonderful! I had a latte a caramel salted truffle while we watch the movie "Ceremony". All three things were delightful. Watching movies in Nebraska won't be good enough for me anymore.
We also had to check out Voodoo Doughnut because it was on the Food Network once. It was quite the experience! The entire building was pink. What's even weirder is the fact that heavy metal was blasting through those pink walls...at 7:30 in the morning. Nothing like a screaming man to wake you up in the morning... The doughnuts were just fine. They tasted like any other doughnut would taste, but it was fun to try it anyway.
We did a lot of eating and walking around (and did a teeny bit of shopping since he loves me so much). It was a fun and clean city that we would definitely visit again.
